Video game courses and degree programs are becoming more popular at colleges, universities and art and trade schools across the country, including in Texas, according to research from the Entertainment Software Association.

A record 381 institutions of higher learning are offering courses in video game design, development and programming, including 24 in Texas, like The University of Texas at Austin.
In January, UT?s departments of fine arts, radio-television-film and computer science joined forces to create a new Game Design and Development program for undergraduates.
California tops the list with 70 schools that offer video game courses, followed by Texas at No. 2 and Florida at No. 3 with 23 institutions.
