CHARLESTON, SC (WCSC)-The special election for Senate District 42 is set to begin Tuesday.
Marlon Kimpson will represent the Democrats in the race as he takes on Republican Billy Shuman and Libertarian Alex Thornton.? We'll have all three candidates live on Live5News at 6 a.m. Tuesday.? Be sure to tune in.
The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m.? If you have any questions about where to vote, click here.
Kimpson defeated Maurice Washington during the Democratic primary run-off late last month.? There was no Republican Primary.
The Dist. 42 seat was formerly held by long-time SC Senator Robert Ford, who served in Columbia for 20 years but resigned at the end of May, citing high blood pressure and cardiovascular issues.
At the time, he was the focus of a Senate Ethics Committee probe into campaign finances. The committee found probable cause to support allegations he violated ethics laws and the State Law Enforcement Division is now investigating.
